Panacea, or Kalanchoe in the house
I am not a supporter of self-medication and I do not urge others to refuse the services of doctors, but sometimes in life there are times at which the doctor seems to be not worth going, but you can’t do without medical help. Today I want to talk about Kalanchoe. Many people grow this plant on their windows, many love and appreciate it very much. I must admit right away that I don’t like this flower, but they presented it to me, and I have to grow it on the window. This publication will focus on the beneficial properties of Kalanchoe, on the use of this plant in medicine and cosmetology.
Botanical description of the plant
Kalanchoe is a plant of the genus Succulent family Crassulaceae. Most species are shrubs and perennial herbaceous plants. Annuals and biennials are found. The largest, Kalanchoe beharensis from Madagascar, can reach 6 m in height, but most species are no more than 1 m in height.
The leaves are thick, more or less pinnately dissected, sessile or with petioles. The flowers are collected in multi-flowered umbrella-shaped inflorescences, yellow, white, purple, bright red. All Kalanchoe are popular ornamental plants. Bloom profusely and for a long time.
The genus was first described by the botanist Michel Adanson in 1763.
More information about the plant itself and how to grow it can be found in the article on Kalanchoe.
The use of Kalanchoe in medicine and cosmetology
Kalanchoe is widely used in cosmetology and medicine, but some species need to be careful, for example, it is known that Kalanchoe schizophilla has abortive properties. Pharmacologically, juice has been best studied. Kalanchoe pinnate and Kalanchoe Degremon.
C. pinnate juice has anti-inflammatory properties, inhibits the development of the inflammatory process, improves the healing of burns, frostbite, aseptic and infected wounds. Its use helps to cleanse wounds from pus and necrotic tissue, accelerates wound healing, helps to form more tender scars. In addition, the juice exhibits a bactericidal effect.
In places of wild growth of Kalanchoe, local residents use Kalanchoe from headaches, with rheumatism and many other diseases. Kalanchoe is a universal plant used in all areas of medicine. With the help of Kalanchoe, diseases are treated: the cardiovascular system, kidneys, bladder and urinary tract, the gastrointestinal tract, and many other external and internal diseases.
In caring for yourself with the help of Kalonchoe, you can do less and do not buy expensive creams and lotions. Kalanchoe, having an antibacterial effect, may be useful in cleansing the skin. Vitamins and minerals that are part of Kalanchoe will have a beneficial effect on the skin if Kalanchoe masks are used.
But no matter how useful this plant is, in inept hands it can lead to very undesirable consequences. Therefore, use it in moderation, with knowledge and after consulting a doctor. If you are not sure, it is better to postpone self-medication.
